How to Grow Millet at Home?
- Choose an area with a lot of sun exposure for millet cultivation.
- Work nitrogen-rich fertilizer into the soil to prepare it for planting.
- Individual seeds should be planted at least 2 inches (5 centimeters) apart. Cover the seeds with soil to a depth of at least one inch (2.5 centimeters). Seed rows should be spaced at least 12 inches (30.5 cm) apart.
- As the millet grows, apply more compost or nitrogen-rich fertilizer to the soil. This is required because millet requires a lot of nitrogen from the soil.
- Mulch around the seedlings to help them retain water.
- Water your millet sparingly. Normal average rainfall should be sufficient for millet development, thus no additional watering is required.
- When the grasses and seed heads have gone golden brown, harvest your millet.
